Children
are our future - we are their example
Children
need praise and correction. Both are an expression of God's
love and our love for our children.
All
children attending Locksley Christian School are encouraged
to have a positive attitude to learning and life, and are shown
how to make good decisions.
Our code of conduct is a benchmark to guide students in making
such decisions and in retrospectively assessing their situations
and relationships.
Our
code of conduct requires that:
- We will
seek to honour the Lord in all things
- We will
care for one another and be sensitive to the needs of others
- We will
respect those in authority
- We will
respect others and their property
- We will
take responsibility for what we say and do
- We will
take time to pursue our work and activities to the best of
our ability
- We will
seek to serve one another and receive help graciously
- We will
enjoy the achievements of others
- We will
maintain the good name of the school
- We will
ask God's help in all these things, forgive one another and
accept forgiveness
In the lower
school this is simplified to:
- We will
love the Lord Jesus as our closest friend
- We will
be honest and polite
- We will
listen and obey (our response to authority)
- We will
be kind to each other (our response to others)
- We will
take time (our response to work and activities)
- We will
take care (our response to and respect for property)
Earned
privilege and loving, firm discipline combine to minimise problems
and promote respect.
When
a person assumes greater responsibility in life or sets and
achieves higher goals, he or she earns greater privileges. This
principle is taught through a graduated incentive system of:
- Merits
- to purchase items from the Merit Shop
- Weekly
privilege rewards
- Termly
Honour Roll excursions
Rewarding
achievement is a sound principle and encourages children to
press on for greater achievement. Privileges are rewarded according
to scale of industry and good behaviour.
Conversely,
from time to time children need discipline. The system of demerits
leading to detention, helps the staff to train each child in
areas of self-control and decision making.
Discipline
plays an important part in the school life of any child, and
it is a condition of admission that parents guarantee to support
the staff in this important area so that the child fully understands
that we are working together for their well-being.
A
child's attitudes, conversation, and behaviour will be expected
to be in harmony with the standards of conduct that have become
the accepted norm at Locksley Christian School. School policies
reflect Christian and inclusive standards in courtesy, respect,
kindness, morality, honesty, dress, and general demeanour.
